Voices of Leadership
This year's MUN Leadership Team is of a diverse background, consisting of seven highly awarded student leaders. Every member of the group is expected to transfer to top-tier universities; many are already entrepreneurs and thinkers at the cutting edge.
President: Gabriel Masri
Gabriel is a seasoned member of MUN, despite coming in Spring Season of 2012. During his short tenure with MUN, Gabriel has written award winning papers for NMUN-New York's Arms Trade Committee, won front page headline as a reporter at MUN Far West, and pushed forward multiple new projects. He is a student of Artificial Intelligence and holds multiple certifications across a wide array of fields. We are proud to have him as president for our 2012-2013 season!
EO & Technology Director: Rylie James Potter
Double majoring in Comparative Politics and Science and Technology Studies, Rylie is our resident polymath. In past semesters, Head Delegate, and Fundraising lead of the club. As founder of the Public Policy Forum and to our Diplomatic University initiative, premiering this Fall, he hopes to garner national attention for IVCMUN. Additionally, he spearheads our website, graphic design, and social media initiatives. His dream school is USC, and he plans to apply in Spring.
Research Director: Farheen Jamil
Farheen has been a member of IVCMUN since 2011 and has received several awards, including the Outstanding Position Paper award in the UNICEF Committee at NMUN New York 2012. Her knack for bringing a human element into the dusty world of the United Nations has been an immeasurably valuable asset to the team this past year. She is extremely passionate about the socioeconomic issues that are addressed at conferences and therefore plans on majoring in either Global Studies or Peace & Conflict Studies when she transfers next Fall.
Assistant Director of Research: Daniel Hobbi
From larger committees, such as the IAEA, to smaller committees, like the Arab League, Daniel has yet to shy away from any committee, even if entering it alone. With his major in Political Science and aspirations of entering a JDMD program, Daniel intends to employ a pragmatic and humanitarian approach of delegating within MUN. He seeks to propose solutions that generate the largest impact while maintaining political feasibility, which is an amalgam uniquely his own.
Treasurer & Financial Planner: Max Hyman
Max is a Business Economics major, intent on receiving both Juris Doctorate and Certified Public Accountant degrees. As a new member to the Model United Nations Club, Max has performed at the highest caliber, and never is shy to voice his opinion. Serving on Security Council during multiple conferences, Max has proved to be able to sell even the most politically bold ideas. His alacrity and determination have made him an asset to our team far beyond his superior delegating, and his leadership has shown fellow members the value of their own abilities.
Public Relations Officer: Naziha Kibria
Naziha joined Irvine Valley College Model United Nations in Spring of 2011 as a member of the award winning Paraguay delegation at Model UN of the Far West in San Francisco. Despite taking a brief break in Fall 2011 she returned again at full force in Spring 2012 as one of six students chosen internationally to compete as counsel in the International Criminal Court simulation of NMUN NY, ultimately winning the Outstanding Position Paper Award. Naziha is passionate about Human Rights and intends to pursue studies in International Relations and International Human Rights Law.
VP of Fundraising: Kaitlin O'Neill
